Guide to Tile Finishes

THEVID CERAMICA tiles are available in six surface finish types — each with distinct aesthetic and performance characteristics suited to different applications.

Polished / Mirror
60–80 GU Gloss Units
A high-gloss mirror finish achieved through mechanical polishing after firing. Reflects light beautifully — ideal for large format floors and walls in luxury interiors.
Best for: Large format floors, feature walls, hotel lobbies
Glossy · Mirror-like · Shows footprints
Matt / Matte
10–25 GU Gloss Units
A soft, non-reflective surface with a natural stone-like appearance. Hides fingerprints and dust better than polished. Very popular for contemporary and minimalist interiors.
Best for: Living rooms, bedrooms, commercial floors
Non-reflective · Modern · Practical
Rustic / Natural
15–35 GU Gloss Units
A textured, matte surface inspired by natural stone, slate or aged wood. Anti-slip properties make it suitable for wet areas and outdoor-adjacent spaces.
Best for: Kitchens, bathrooms, outdoor-adjacent areas
Textured · Anti-slip · Natural feel
Lappato / Semi-Polished
40–60 GU Gloss Units
Half-way between polished and matt — a soft sheen finish with a slight texture. Offers the elegance of polished with better slip resistance. Popular for large format tiles.
Best for: Living rooms, hotel corridors, commercial
Elegant · Semi-gloss · Practical
Sugar / Sparkle
25–45 GU Gloss Units
A crystalline, sugar-like surface texture that catches and scatters light. Creates a sparkling effect that adds depth and luxury to floor and wall applications.
Best for: Feature floors, accent walls, premium interiors
Sparkle effect · Luxury · Unique depth
Carving / 3D Relief
Varies Gloss Units
Tiles with three-dimensional surface reliefs — geometric patterns, stone textures or artistic motifs pressed or applied to the surface. Creates dramatic visual impact on feature walls.
Best for: Feature walls, reception areas, design accents
3D surface · Visual impact · Art-like
