Why banks will not buy back your coin
Banks in India sell gold coins but generally do not buy them back. That leaves jewellers — who often offer a lower rate — or a dedicated gold buyer. Because a coin's purity is already stamped, a quick purity check confirms it and you receive a rate very close to the live 24K price.
Does packaging matter?
A sealed pack with the assay certificate makes verification faster, but an opened coin is worth the same gold value. Keep the certificate if you have it.
